First ever therapeutic Endoscopy(Variceal Band Ligation

As a small step towards therapeutic endoscopy on, 19th March 2023 we at Geetanjali Multispeciality Hospital,Wai have done the first ever endoscopic variceal band ligation it is also the first ever done in Wai and surrounding areas. It was performed under moderate to high risk on a hypotensive patient with haemetemsis secondary to grade 3 oesophageal varices with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. The procedure was successfuly done by our surgeon and endoscopist Dr Siddhant Jayaghosh Kaddu.It was done under short GA and sedation administered by anesthesiologist Dr Prashant Ahiwale.

Ruptured varicose vein

A patient Mr.Shelar was bought to the emergency department in hypovolemic shock after haemorrhage from a ruptured varicose vein on his left leg. He was immediately resusitated with volume replacement untill his blood pressure was normalized, a compression bandage was tied and was posted next day for EVLA ( Endovenous Laser Ablation ) under venous ultrasound imaging. This was the first EVLA procedure performed at GMH and also the first in Wai.
